Whether
you’re Coaching Minor Hockey in Canada, Coaching Youth Hockey in
the U.S.A. or Coaching Kids Hockey in the rest of the world, the
skills, systems, rules and strategy are basically the same.
Coaches and Parents
To make your
players and Team competitive you will need to teach
Skills from the
following 5 - Basic Skill groups. Skating, Puckhandling,
Stickhandling & Deking, Passing & Receiving, Shooting & Scoring
and Checking - Stick & Bodychecking
The earlier
your Players develop these skills the better your Team will
play.
The
Hockey Made Easy Instruction Manual
can help you get
to the next level. In as little as a few days you can improve
your skills and game by 10%, 15% even 25%.
Systems
To advance to
the competitive level of hockey, Players will need to learn the
following Systems
Clearing & Breakout Plays, Forechecking Systems, Backchecking
Systems, Power Play and Penalty Killing Systems
Strategy
Finally
Coaches will have to explain to the players Hockey Strategy and what Systems to
use in games. This
is based on the size of the ice surface, the skills and
weaknesses of your team and the skills and weaknesses of the
opposition.
Conclusion
When coaches
teach these 3 elements; skills, systems and strategy through
on-ice and off-ice
practices and teaching sessions then incorporate then in
their game plan
and their players
execute them, they
will be well on their way to becoming a very competitive Team
and possibly challenging for the season ending League Playoff
Championship.
